Big Day Out 2011
From wet to hot - too bloody hot!! At least we had a hose to cool things down - as the sub set we got busy.
Rainbow Serpent Jan 2011
Our first Rainbow and hopefully not the last - the Festival seems to just keep going but a week after it is over you miss it!
Falls 2010
First time Fall's for us - most of the tents blew away in a wind storm but the Marquee held up and 2011 came in with a soft landing. What a site !!! Spectacular.
Meredith 2010
Back to the beginning for Dumplings - we love this place and the Pink Flamingo's. We wre moved down to the stage side this year next to the Mango Licks. There was a fair amount of licking and eating going on.
Queenscliffe Music Festival November 2010
There was enough wind to hold a kite festival - the music kept on and the crowds still came, what a setting right on the bay.
Spring Racing 2010
Another wash out - Melbourne has been dishing up plenty of rain and the track was downgraded together with the crowds. We spent a fair amount of the carnival picking losers and watching people get drunk and wet.
Melbourne Flower Show March 2010
Five sunny days in the Exhibition Gardens - what a great setting.
Golden Plains March 2010
Wow - wet , wet , wet and very muddy !! People were still hungry and we had lots of fun.
Soundwave Feb 2010
On a hot Friday morning we entered the event as Melbourne Showground virgins and by the end we left just the same as every other tired, sunburnt food vendor. While the music at the festival was a little different to our previous events, the punk rock crowd were not shy in showing their love for dumplings. Numerous event goers mistook our fuk fuk sauce for tomato which gave everyone around a good laugh. We saw an elaborate range of festival costumes from panda bears to local prostitutes, the dumplings team were always amused. A dinner rushed prov that the Melbourne Showgrounds venue was capable of meeting the high standards of their next door neighbour, Flemington race course. All in all an individual festival enjoyed by many, who should have otherwise been at their 9 to 5 job.
Good Vibrations Feb 2010
Back to our local venue, Flemington racecourse, we set off for another dumplings event. While the morning crowd wasn't promising it was evident when the music started they were hanging out for the great line up. The dumplings team sung along to Kid Cudi and Salt 'n' Pepa, but by the time The Gossip arrived we were way to busy to check out Beth Ditto's outfit of the day. Numerous drunken revelers returned after having a dumplings taste at the Big Day Out and weren't disappointed by our special of the day, The Yum Cha plate. Flemington did not disappoint yet again, with a non stop que from 5 o'clock. Big smiles all around when the day ended with lots of happy people and a dumplings team rocking out to The Killers.
St. Kilda Festival Feb 2010
St. Kilda fest 2010 looked to be a great day for the dumplings team. Right next to the main stage and our old mates, Team Hare Krishna we set off to a good start. A diverse crowd we had from under age teeny boppers, to my old Nanna Maysie the day was set to be an interesting one. A few hitches on the day, number one, St. Kilda was a DRY ZONE!!!! No beer for the crowd = a small dumplings appetite. Number two, the large area of the festival meant that we had so many other stalls fighting for the festival food crown. Overall the winners of the day were the cafes and restaraunts of the area who were able to provide everyone with their supply of booze, no offence taken, we totally understand. Overall our st kilda festival experience provided us with great exposure to a number of people who wouldn't normally have the privilege of a dumplings meal.
Big Day Out, Melbourne 2010
On a day where we celebrate how wonderful Australia is, the dumplings team joined 55,000 other party goers at the Big Day Out, Melbourne. Perfect weather and a perfect line up set the scene for our next dumplings event. With non- stop queues Big Day Out proved to be Dumplings Dumplings Dumplings busiest event to date. Many people came back several times throughout the day to take advantage of our speedy service and fun staff, who on a good day, will give out free dumplings to our return customers. While their were was a never ending queue, it was quite evident on the day that the dumplings team were able to power through the lines quicker than other food vendors. A few staff members were able to sneak out later in the day to see some of the festivals highlights. Lilly Allen, Powderfinger and Muse were loved by all, however Groove Armada and Kasabian did not live up to the dumplings team high expectations. Looking forward to rocking out with You Am I at St. Kilda fest!
Pyramid Rock Music Festival 2009
Off to a slow start we travelled down to Phillip Island to bring in the new year. A lot of under age punters had to be educated on the beauty of the dumpling, but as always we were up for the challenge. Sunburn, windburn and epic hangovers deterred a few, however the dumplings team kept on trucking. Through a scorching 38 degree heat on New Years Eve the dumplings team survived only to be again thrown to the whims of mother nature with a storm to end all storms. Shutting down for an hour we watched the masses huddle under whatever cover was still standing. Unfortunately the event organisers decided that mother nature was a force who could not be reckoned with and so the rest of the evenings acts were cancelled. The dumplings team stayed on through the hard times closing during the wee hours of the morning. After round 2 we were happy to a) survive and b) spread more of the dumplings love.
Meredith Music Festival 2009
Meredith Music Festival was the launch of our Dumplings stall and what a launch it was. Busy from the start to the end, we had many delighted customers happy to see dumplings at their favourite festival. We not only fed the masses with our tasty food, but also entertained them all through the night, having numerous conversations with those who had lost their friends and just wanted a chat & a dumpling. On the final day we decided to become part of our favourite annual event. The Meredith Gift. A nudey run for all wanting to be involved. While there was a lot of bare flesh running around a few of the daring participants had 'Dumplings Dumplings Dumplings' written on their backs. After a number of heats and a bit of gravel rash we entered the finals with our girl taking out the Golden Garter. Dumplings Dumplings Dumplings has now made it's mark in the Meredith history books.
